Our Story
The Wallingford Table
In the last year, Wallingford Public Library has been very fortunate to collaborate with the Wallingford Racial Justice Team and other community organizations to establish a multicultural program series: The Wallingford Table.
The mission of The Wallingford Table is to foster intentional dialogue between the diverse communities of Wallingford through culinary experiences. Within each program, we have created a space to engage the dynamic cultures and intersecting identities of those who shape our community. From tasting Turkish coffee & pastries to celebrating Juneteenth with red velvet cake, from making three different kinds of Mexican ceviche to touring Eastern Europe through its festival dishes, these experiences help to bridge a gap of understanding and cultural knowledge that exists amongst our neighbors.
In sharing food and personal stories, we hope to further our collective education and spark curiosity around how we are all inherently connected, no matter our background or upbringing. We believe that this work plays a significant role in fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and open-hearted Wallingford.
