Our Story

VetFuel, Inc., is a 501-c3, created with the assistance of Yale Law School's Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization in 2014. We support formerly incarcerated veterans with State of CT. Certificates of Employability & Criminal Pardons for non-victim crimes, gas cards for employment, & increase social determinants of public health for impoverished veterans that are marginalized or undeserved.

These Great Give donations will go directly to our #PardonMe Veteran Re-entry Program & our newly created #Fearless Veteran Program, creating quarterly community gatherings, to honor all of Connecticut's veterans, in safe public spaces.

Our collective was born out of necessity in 2014, when a veteran threw himself into highway traffic, from the breakdown lane, because he ran out of gasoline. Thankfully, the oncoming car did not hit the veteran, but instead his vehicle. Over time, we pivoted from fuel cards, to discharge upgrade advocacy & criminal pardon applications. Now in our 11th year of operation, we have assisted more than 6k Connecticut veterans because of your support!

Flash forward 11 years! VetFuel's Re-Entry Team has had great success with employment pardon petitions, getting a full pardon board panel vote affirmed for a Certificate of Employability in only 6 weeks, which allows veterans to restore their professional license, become bonded by their employer, earn a living wage, & not be shackled by their historical criminal record.

In fact....there are ~10,000 #Veteran #Felons in #Connecticut & this removes a huge amount of talent from the workforce, removed from employment opportunities that can allow them to thrive & get off of entitlements. This barrier to a living wage, ensures a life sentence of low wage service-related positions, poverty, & risk of re-arrest /addiction. No More! Since 2014 our board has achieved a positive trajectory of change agency in this traditionally undeserved population, because it is necessary, & achievable. In short, we help veterans that time forgot & have squarely aligned this veteran organization with a moral obligation to charity. Semper Fi!
