Our Story

More than a Library: An East Haven Community Hub!

The East Haven Public Library—commonly known as Hagaman Memorial Library—is a vital part of the community, providing educational resources, social gathering spaces, enrichment activities, and access to technology for all ages. Hagaman offers free library cards to East Haven residents, and access to free books, computers, and programming…for everyoneHere, the only entrance requirement is interest. Whether you are a local resident or just visiting, everyone is welcome at Hagaman Library. Everyone is invited to explore our programming, resources, and services while they visit our building. And anyone with a Connecticut Library Card, from any town, is invited to borrow those resources, to explore the library from the comfort of their own home!

In addition to wonderful books, movies, and other physical resources, the library also provides meeting rooms that can be scheduled for social gatherings, as well as programming on a variety of topics, including arts, music, culture, history, health, movies, crafts, and more! This type of programming—provided as a free service and open to all—needs your support. The library relies on generous donations from caring community volunteers like you to provide the kinds of enriching experiences that bring people together over shared interests. While many programs can be run by members of library staff, funding allows us to invite guest lecturers, musicians, crafters, and other experts, to share their talent and knowledge with the community, free of charge.

So please, if you have read this far, we ask that you dig deep today, and consider giving generously. Your support will make a difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout our community. A difference you will be able to see when you walk through the library doors.
