CfAL for Digital Inclusion provides programs that support digital equity and digital inclusion.
All of our programs are FREE!
Since 2001, CfAL For Digital Inclusion has been providing refurbished computers & tablets,
and free computer training to youth and adults.
Participants that qualify receive a free refurbished computer that comes equipped with Microsoft Office.
Our mission is to increase the knowledge and use of technology for youth and adults, preparing them for success in both school and career, and in a constantly changing digital society.
Introduction to Computer Literacy- This free program is for adults (18 and over) to learn basic computer skills such as working with Word, Excel and Google Docs, navigating Indeed, creating a resume and financial planning. Participants that qualify will receive a refurbished computer at the end of the 10.5-hour course. This course is in partnership with Workforce Alliance, American Job Center and New Haven Adult Education. This program helps people that are looking for employment and or job advancement or wanting to learn computer skills for daily life. Exploring Technology for Teens- This program is for high school aged children (16-18). This is a free six-week program for students to explore a variety of tools and technologies including, Makey Makey, Figma, ChatGPT, AI, VR Games, how to build a computer, 3D printing, robotics, video/image/audio editing and more. Students learn to troubleshoot and work as a team to solve problems. Each student receives a computer upon completion that comes equipped with Microsoft Office. Intermediate and Advanced Classes- These classes are for anyone that is looking for more training to build their computer skills to help them with job seeking, workforce advancement and every day computer skills. These classes are offered at our Science Park location when facilitators are scheduled to teach other classes. Youth Program- In partnership with local youth programs, CfAL offers both afterschool and summer programing. Within the youth programming, participants will learn building and coding robots, 3D printing, editing of photos, videos, and music. Youth learn to work as a group, follow directions, and are able to showcase what they have created. Foundation to Computers- This program is designed for 18–26 year-olds that want to have a career in technology. This is a 6-week program that will provide skills to build a pathway into a technology career. Students learn how to take a computer apart and become familiar with the components of a computer, as well as installation of both hardware and software, troubleshooting, and reimaging. Students that successfully complete the program will receive a refurbished computer.
