Our Story

Army's Legacy Rescue and Sanctuary, saves animal lives by providing a voice to those, without one. We can only continue with your help; every dollar goes directly to supporting this mission. Alone we can do little but, together we can do abundantly more!

Meet sweet Darla pictured above, look into her eyes. She was rescued from the streets of Ct, abandoned after enduring neglect, starvation, and fear at the hands of humans then, being tossed out to fend for herself. Army's volunteers quickly came to her rescue, brought her to the Vet where she received medical attention then, to the Sanctuary. Here she knows the warmth of a soft bed, meals to fill her once empty belly and hope for a future where she will NEVER know fear again. She is in need of more medical care but, is healing and we hope one day she will be adopted into a forever home. There are hundreds more, just like Darla or as we fear, worse. They need us and they need you. Please consider any donation to help us save more animals.

A little information about the Rescue and the new Sanctuary property.

The property was acquired in early 2025 and is located at 647 Horse Hill Rd in Westbrook Ct. The buildings, kennels and grounds are in need of major renovations in order meet code and provide a healthy environment to house dogs and cats.

In addition to taking dogs and cats are risk for euthanizing simply because local shelters are at capacity, we Army’s Legacy we assistance with rehoming, medical bill assistance and resources to families wanting to keep their beloved pets, vet clinics to provide low-cost vaccines, and care. All this can't be done without generous contributions.

Army's Legacy was founded by Amanda Armstrong who fought her way through stage 4 Cancer and found strength in rescue while enduring treatment. She dedicated this organization to the memory of her beloved Rottweiler "Army", who passed away from cancer. Her mission is to save as many dogs/cats as possible, one paw at a time.

On behalf of the dogs and cats waiting to be saved, we thank you.
